Originally established in 2003 as West Riding Motor Group, we quickly began to build a trusted, family-run company that customers can rely on. We have partnered with some of the world’s largest motor manufactures including Toyota, Lexus, MG & Hyundai.

At West Riding, we understand the importance of giving back to the local community and be “Admired Locally”. Our retailers currently support local schools in Blackburn and Burnley, charities in Farnworth and fundraising events across Greater Manchester. It is through these activities that we build relationships with our customers.

We aim to employ like-minded people who want to deliver a superior level of customer service and look for innovative ways to improve our offering. As such, we have built a dedicated and friendly team who will always go the extra mile.

Our commitment to Hyundai and our customers is to supply New and Used vehicles, with specialist knowledge in alternative fuel vehicles, and Aftersales services, such as Servicing, MOT’s, Spare parts.

Our history

1947 – Hyundai’s Beginnings

Chung Ju-yung establishes Hyundai Engineering and Construction, focusing on building roads and infrastructure to connect communities and improve lives.

1967 - Hyundai Motor Company was founded

The Ulsan assembly plant was completed in 1968. Today, it is the world’s largest integrated automobile manufacturing facility, with an annual production capacity of 1.6 million units. With the Hyundai Glovis global vessel fleet and its own steel-making affiliate, Hyundai controls the whole value chain.

1968 - First vehicle assembled

In 1968, the Cortina was the very first vehicle successfully assembled by Hyundai at its Ulsan plant, in cooperation with Ford Motor Company. Hyundai set a record for the quickest time between ground-breaking and full-scale operations for any Ford assembly plant around the world – just under six months.

2003 - West riding group opening

The West Riding Group journey started in 2003. We quickly became renowned for our customer care and outstanding performance in the West Riding of Yorkshire. The vision was, and always will be to develop a family owned company with family values at the core of everything we do. This is expressed in our Mission statement “Provide Target Achievement, Fulfil Our Commitments and Deliver Our Promises”

2019 - 2025 - Growing our company

Under the leadership of Founder Nick Wright, we have continued to flourish. The opportunity to grow our company came in 2011 with Hyundai Colne. In 2016, we opened Hyundai Manchester, followed by Hyundai Bolton in 2019. Most recently, in January 2025, we expanded further with the addition of West Riding Hyundai Bury.
